Danny Murphy clashes with journalist who asked Pep Guardiola about Financial Fair Play after FA Cup triumph

Danny Murphy clashes with journalist who asked Pep Guardiola about Financial Fair Play after FA Cup triumph

Danny Murphy has criticised journalist Rob Harris for quizzing Pep Guardiola about a Financial Fair Play investigation immediately after Manchester City completed a historic treble.

Guardiola was clearly incensed when asked by Harris if he has ever received off-the-book payments from City following the club’s 6-0 FA Cup final victory over Watford.

The Spaniard said: “Do you know the question you’re asking me, if I ever received money for another situation, right now, today?

“Honestly, do you think I deserve to have this type of question happen, on the day we won the treble, if I received money from other situations?

“Are you accusing me? Oh man.”

The build up to the final was dominated by reports City could face a year-long ban from the Champions League.

Harris joined talkSPORT to defend the timing of his question, which Murphy described as ‘attention seeking’ and ‘ego-driven’.

Listen in full to Harris’ reasons for asking his question and why it was necessary to do so.

Saturday’s 5-1 defeat to Accrington saw them drop into the relegation zone and they face relegation rivals Scunthorpe on the final day of the season as they battle to stay in League One.

Adams’ assistant Paul Wotton has also been relieved of his duties.

A club statement read: “The club would like to place on record its sincere gratitude to Derek, not only for his hard work and dedication in his management of the team, but also for his wider input into the club during four challenging and often exciting seasons.”

Kevin Nancekivell will take charge of the team for the clash with Scunthorpe.

Callum Hudson-Odoi: Maurizio Sarri predicts Chelsea starlet will stay and start ’75-80 per cent’ of matches

Callum Hudson-Odoi: Maurizio Sarri predicts Chelsea starlet will stay and start ’75-80 per cent’ of matches

Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi will stay at the club and start ‘75-80 per cent of matches in the near future’, manager Maurizio Sarri has predicted.

The talented 18-year-old winger, who recently made his full England debut, is yet to start a Premier League game for the Blues despite increasing pressure from fans.

Hudson-Odoi is reportedly determined to leave Chelsea

Hudson-Odoi is reportedly determined to leave Chelsea

His future at Stamford Bridge remains a constant source of speculation after Chelsea rejected several January bids from Bayern Munich, who are expected to renew their interest this summer.

The teenager is yet to agree a new deal with the west London club and his current contract expires next year.

He reportedly wants more assurances over playing time, and speaking ahead of Sunday̢۪s Premier League clash with Cardiff, Sarri offered some clarity on Hudson-Odoi̢۪s progress at Chelsea.

â€Å“I know very well the situation. Last season Callum was only 17 and he played three or four matches,” Sarri said.

â€Å“This season he is very young, at the moment he has played, I don’t remember, 19 or 20 matches.

â€Å“The evolution is the right one. Probably he will play 30 or 35 matches next season. With Callum we are in the right path.

Maurizio Sarri expects the winger to feature more in the coming weeks

2

Maurizio Sarri expects the winger to feature more in the coming weeks

â€Å“We have to play eight matches in 28 days, so he will start in two or three matches. For every competition there is no difference, so I am really very confident with him.

â€Å“He has started a lot of matches. Not in Premier League, but by chance, it is not a problem for him to start a Premier League match, he is ready.

â€Å“But I can only play with two wingers, we have [Eden] Hazard, Pedro, Willian. Probably in the near future he will start in 75 or 80 per cent of matches.”

Manchester United and Barcelona are also rumoured to be plotting summer bids for Hudson-Odoi, who Chelsea are desperate to keep.

Reports emerged earlier today suggesting the Blues are willing to offer the winger £100,000-a-week to persuade him to sign a new deal.

It is understood the club will refuse to sell Hudson-Odoi even if it means letting him leave for free when his contract runs out, and Sarri reaffirmed that view on Friday.

When asked if Hudson-Odoi will be a Chelsea player next season, he said: “I think so.

“I can’t say if he is going to sign a new contract with us, but I think he is going to stay with us regardless.”

Chelsea transfer news: N’Golo Kante ‘tempted’ by Paris Saint-Germain move as Ligue 1 champions line up £90million deal – reports

N’Golo Kante is considering a move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to reports.

The Ligue 1 champions are desperate to add midfield reinforcements given Adrien Rabiot is set to leave on a free transfer and have previously looked at Kante.

However, the France international has always been content with life in England and even signed a new deal at Stamford Bridge back in September 2018.

But after failing to sign Everton star Idrissa Gana Gueye back in January, it is understood PSG will try and lure Kante back to his native country with a mammoth offer.

The Blues have been hit with a two-window transfer ban and are set to lose star man Eden Hazard to Real Madrid this summer.

But it could be about to get a lot worse as the Daily Mirror claim PSG will better Kante’s wages and will make an offer that is likely to be ‘too big to ignore’.

The 28-year-old is valued at around £90million by the west Londoners, who can ill-afford such a crucial member of their first-team.

Mateo Kovacic is set to return to Real Madrid after failing to impress on loan and Ruben Loftus-Cheek is likely to miss up to a year with an Achilles injury.

Kante was left in London as the Blues played a friendly match in Boston, Massachusetts in the week in order for him to step up his recovery with the club’s physios.

Portsmouth have sold out their home end for the second leg clash against Sunderland next week

In a rematch of their Checkatrade Trophy final encounter, which Pompey won 5-4 on penalties in March, Sunderland will be looking for revenge.

As of Thursday, 21,747 home tickets had been sold for the first leg clash at the Stadium of Light.

Portsmouth’s allocation has been cut to 2,000 following crowd trouble when the two sides met last month after a Pompey supporter was arrested for throwing a flare at Sunderland supporters.
