Premier League: Bournemouth stars Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser are on the brink of making history

Over the years, the Premier League has witnessed a number of classy double acts, whether it being in defence, midfield or up front, there is nothing quite like seeing two players on the same wavelength as the opposition struggle to work them out.

Think Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole, Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, how about Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic?

And this season, it is Bournemouth who have the most productive duo, in the form of Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser.

The two men played a crucial role in the 5-0 drubbing the Cherries dished out on their travels at Brighton, with Wilson setting up Fraser for their second before the diminutive attacker returned the favour for Wilson to make it four.

That connection has helped give them a total of 11 goals and not since Alan Shearer and Mike Newell in 1995/96 for Blackburn Rovers (also 11) have two team-mates been so obliging to the other.

Next in line behind the Bournemouth attackers, are Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling who has combined for seven goals with both Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane, the same amount as Wolves’ Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez.

Shearer and Sutton hold the record with 13

However, Wilson and Fraser will need to link up a few more times in their remaining fixtures if they want to have the record to themselves.

Dubbed the ‘SAS’ Shearer and Chris Sutton combined 13 times as Blackburn famously won the Premier League in 1994/95.
