Liverpool transfer news: Alberto Moreno set to sign ‘two-year deal’ with Barcelona – reports

Alberto Moreno will sign for Barcelona on a free this summer in a shock move, according to reports.

The Liverpool left-back has fallen out of favour under Jurgen Klopp and is second-choice behind Andy Robertson.

Moreno is out of contract in the summer and was widely tipped to follow former Red Lucas Leiva to Serie A with Lazio after being spotted in Rome last week.

However, a report in Spanish publication Sport claims Barca want to sign the error-prone defender as back-up to compatriot Jordi Alba.

The 27-year-old signed from Sevilla in 2014 for £12million but has been erratic and inconsistent at Anfield, to say the least.

As mentioned previously, Moreno is susceptible to making mistakes due to a lack of concentration – like his display in the 2016 Europa League Final.

His pace and attacking-instincts suggested Klopp would relish working with the Spaniard, but the emergence of Robertson has effectively ended his Liverpool career.

Moreno’s last appearance came in the FA Cup defeat to Wolves at Molinieux in January, one of just five times he has pulled on the famous red shirt this season.

The report goes on to claim the blaugrana will also target wonderkids Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax and reported Manchester United target Luka Jovic as they prepare for a squad overhaul at the Camp Nou.
