Next Celtic manager: Jose Mourinho SECOND favourite to become Hoops’ permanent boss as Portuguese’s odds get slashed

He has been out of work since he was sacked by Manchester United in December but reports emerged over the weekend he was offered the Hoops job.

Celtic won their eighth successive Scottish Premiership title with a 3-0 win at Aberdeen on Saturday, however, caretaker boss Neil Lennon may not be the club’s first choice to replace Brendan Rodgers as permanent boss.

Lennon is still the odds-on favourite to land the job, while Belgium boss Roberto Martinez is third at 7/1.

Below you can see the top ten candidates to be Celtic’s manager next season, according to Sky Bet, via Oddschecker.

Next Celtic manager odds

Neil Lennon – 4/7

Jose Mourinho – 2/1

Roberto Martinez – 7/1

Rafael Benitez – 7/1

David Moyes – 9/1

Steve Clarke – 10/1

Andre Villas-Boas – 12/1

David Wagner – 16/1

Alex Neil – 20/1

Martin O’Neill – 20/1

Mourinho is also the 11/8 favourite to get the Paris Saint-Germain manager’s post as pressure continues to mount on Thomas Tuchel following their last-16 exit from the Champions League.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “Jose Mourinho has already won titles in England, Spain, Portugal and Italy so he may see Scotland as a chance to add another country to his CV.

“Celtic are just the profile of club the 56-year-old likes – dominant domestically, big stadium, lots of history – so despite the low quality of the league, there may just be something in this.”
