Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy ‘couldn’t believe his eyes’ during comeback against Ajax, Martin Jol tells talkSPORT

Daniel Levy ‘couldn’t believe his eyes’ as he watched Tottenham fight back to beat Ajax and seal their place in the Champions League final, former manager Martin Jol has told talkSPORT.

Jol – who coached both Spurs and Ajax – was sat next to the supremo and the rest of the club’s board at the Johan Cruyff Arena, as the north London side completed one of the greatest ever European comebacks.

Inspired by Liverpool’s win over Barcelona, Tottenham came back from 3-0 down to go through on away goals after Lucas Moura’s second-half hat-trick.

It has been hailed as one of the best nights in Spurs’ history, and it appears Levy was left speechless.

“It was a miracle result,” said Jol, speaking on Thursday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

“I was sitting next to Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board and they couldn’t believe their eyes.

“In the first half Ajax were good and Spurs had no energy, they looked tired.

“But in the second half after Mauricio Pochettino’s substitutions, which were spot on, you saw there was a big change in the game and they started believing.

“Ajax have conceded over 30 goals in the Dutch league, so if you put them under pressure like Spurs did in the second half, that’s the way to do it and that’s what they did.”
